The Ultimate Compliment

What is the ultimate compliment for a photographer?

I recently gave my art away. I was asked “what does this photo mean, and say to you”?

What a fantastic question. Every photo has a story or meaning behind it, what I see in my photographs may be very different from what someone else may see and experience by looking at my photos.

Make a photographers day and ask the question.

The Unsure Photographer

When you’re unsure about taking a photo take it anyway!

You never know what will turn out. Certainly there are times when I talk to myself (saying wow, oh my, things like that), or I just seem to know that I have to take photos. Sometimes I can feel, and see there is something magnificent in that shot.

Below is a photo from Joshua Tree, after one of the most amazing days I have ever had in my life. I truly have never seen the sun go down in such an awe-inspiring manner before. The kaleidoscope of colors that came, and went every minute or two along with the sun setting just humbled me to my core.

I was terrified that I would not catch “the” photo. Instead of being caught up with that fear, I stayed present, enjoying the beautiful show mother nature was putting on, and shot as many photos as I could.

Whether you’re sure, or unsure, TAKE THE PHOTO!

I promise you wont regret taking that photo.

The Beginning

I picked up the camera somewhere back around 2014. Not knowing what I was doing, I had this incredible internal desire to capture what I was seeing. My friend Jerry Ockfen invited me to a softball game with the Seattle Honey Badgers, and so my photography journey started. The Seattle Honey Badgers have been pretty awesome letting me learn photography at their expense.

The journey has not stopped, the learning is continuous.

I do not believe in malicious, negative, or embarrassing photography.

I believe there is a story behind each and every photo. Telling, and learning that story is the journey.

Keep Pushing Kindness out into the world.
